Whiting, call-sign Whip, is a U.S. Marine.
Through unknown circumstances, Whiting joined the United States Marine Corps, where he gained the call-sign Whip.
In early 2002, Whip was involved in a gun battle in the mountains of Tora Bora, where he was shot in the hand. It was only Shane Schofield's suggestion to the medics to splint his finger that kept Whip's finger from healing wrong.
In the early hours of October 25th 2003, Whip was among the Marines under Schofield's command that were dispatched to assist two Delta teams fighting Chechen terrorists at a former Soviet base known as Krask-8. As they prepared to drop from their stealth bomber in a Light Attack vehicle, Schofield asked Whip how his hand was. The surprised Whip said his hand was fine, admitting he hadn't expected Schofield to remember the incident.
Soon after they arrived at Krask-8, Schofield sent Whip with Bull's team to investigate the facility's office tower for signs of the Delta forces, since they had heard from them or seen any sign of the terrorists. Bull and Whip's team soon found the Delta force team led by Gregory Farrell, and Bull reported the deaths of the Delta men to Schofield, noting the mysterious beheading of Farrell. Moments later, Whip and the others were ambushed by the mercenary group Executive Solutions, and Whip perished in the attack.
