Rano is the Chief of the Neetha Tribe.

History[]

Early History[]

Presumably the first-born son of the previous chieftain of the Neetha, Rano grew up in a more luxurious lifestyle than the rest of his people, been privileged enough to be given a higher priority for food and other necessities. However, the Neetha's cannibal lifestyle caused facial deformities to occur while he was still young.

Prior to the beginning of the 21st century, Rano became the tribe's chief after the death of his predecessor. By 2002, Rano had claimed seven women as his wives and conceived seven sons with different ones, including Warano and Ono.

When the anthropologist Diane Cassidy and her search party came across the Neetha, Rano ordered the execution of most of the group. However, because owning a white woman was a great status symbol, he chose to let Cassidy live as his eighth wife, and over the next five years he repeatedly raped and abused her.

The Six Sacred Stones[]

After several outsiders were captured (Wizard, Zoe, Lily, Alby and Solomon) outside the village, Rano came to inspect them with his sons. After gazing dismissively at them, he allowed Yanis to question them through Cassidy.

The following morning, Rano watched as Warano pronounced his claim to the whole village his intent to make Lily his bride, and then as Solomon and Zoe fought Warano on the fighting platform for the girl's freedom. Rano was shocked when Zoe turned the tables on Warano and soon killed him, leaving Rano seething with silent rage over the death of his first-born son.

While Zoe and Alby were sentenced to the village maze as punishment, Rano and the rest of the Neetha were caught off-guard when the CIEF and Congolese soldiers began assaulting the village to claim the second Pillar. Rano turned and ran with two of his sons to grab weapons that they had taken from others who had stumbled across the village before so that they could defend themselves.

After claiming a shotgun for himself, Rano and his sons came across Cassidy and Ono helping Wizard and Lily preparing to flee. Confronting them, Rano informed Cassidy that he would take her back and impose many "lessons" upon her for trying to leave. However Cassidy responded that there would be no more lessons, and then shot Rano's two sons before turning her gun on Rano himself, killing the village chieftain who had abused her for so long.

Skills[]

  • Trained Marksman: As he was able to wield a shotgun, Rano was most likely trained in how to use some firearms, but was certainly not expert enough to properly care for them.

Equipment[]

  • Pump-Action Shotgun: One of the many weapons taken from the Neetha's victims, Rano has access to a shotgun for his own use.

Trivia[]

  • Rano, along with the rest of the Neetha tribe suffers from proteus disease, giving him facial deformities due to diet and inbreeding over the generations.
