Hades was a former King of the Kingdom of Underworld, whose reputation and power led many to refer to him as a God.

Fictional History[]

Early History[]

The man known through history as Hades was born as a member of the Kingdom of Underworld, a faction of the ancient group known as the Four Legendary Kingdoms. Because of his membership in the Four Kingdoms, Hades was taught about the true history of mankind, as well as learning of the trials set by super-ancient beings to test humanity.

After he was made the King of Underworld of his time, Hades gained a reputation of great power, leading many to begin worshiping him as a deity. During his time as King of Underworld, Hades gained a reputation for inspiring fear in all around him. He also acquired on of the three Immortal Weapons that were crucial to the Trial of the Cities, the helmet, which was named as his own.

During his time as King of Underworld, Hades watched the Great Games of the Hydra, with his own sponsored Champions participating. After Zeus's Champion won, Hades decided to aid his brother by sending nine of his minotaurs to serve as porters for his supplies during the journey through the Supreme Labyrinth.

Though he eventually died, Hades's actions during his reign, as well as his interpretation as a living God, led to him becoming a well-known figure in many Greek myths, most notably as the ruler of the Underworld. In addition, the successors of the title of King of Underworld would each take on Hades's name as a title, one that garnered respect and fear throughout the millennia. By the present day, the current Hades was Anthony DeSaxe.

The Four Legendary Kingdoms[]

When Jack West Jr, Lily West and their group were told about the Four Kingdoms after being dragged to the Underworld for the fourth Great Games of the Hydra, among the many things they were informed about was the legacy of the real Hades.

The Three Secret Cities[]

As preparations began being made to undertake the Trial of the Cities, Hades's namesake Helmet was sought after by the various opposing groups. Anthony, who had been keeping the Helmet in his New York apartment, attempted to claim it with Jack and his group but lost it to the King of Land, Orlando Compton-Jones and his entourage.

The One Impossible Labyrinth[]

As they were making their way through the Endless Tunnel of the Supreme Labyrinth, Easton mentioned to Jack and Lily how Hades had provided some of his minotaurs to aid Zeus in the maze.

Legacies[]

Trivia[]

  • Though Zeus was noted in mythology to be Hades's brother, the fact that the King of Underworld at the time of the third Great Games Zeus was present at was Eurystheus, suggests that Hades was the King of Underworld at a different time to Zeus and unrelated to him (and presumably their other mythological brother, Poseidon).
    • However, The One Impossible Labyrinth would confirm that Hades was Zeus's brother and the King of Underworld, suggesting that Eurystheus was in fact only misconstrued as the King of Underworld at the time in the earlier novel.
