The AH-77 Penetrator Attack Helicopter is a hybrid-type of military chopper belonging to the United States Air Force.
History[]
Area 7[]
A small number of AH-77 Penetrators were added to Area 7's small number of aircraft prior to 2001. They were kept in an above-ground hanger outside of the main base.
When Caesar learned that Gunther Botha had taken Kevin from Area 7, he dispatched 7th Squadron's Charlie unit to reclaim the boy. They took three Penetrators, along with the CH-53E Super Stallion Looking Glass to Lake Powell to head Botha and the Reccondos off.
When Charlie found the South Africans' bipods, aided by the real-time satellite images of the lake from Looking Glass, they began using their Penetrators to drop torpedoes and missiles on the bipods. When Penetrator Three was unexpectedly approached by Looking Glass, the men inside requested an update, only to learn that the Super Stallion had been taken over. Penetator Three, on Schofield's dare, fired one of its Sidewinders, only for it to be shot down, followed by Penetrator Three itself.
Penetrators One and Two later caught up to Looking Glass shortly after Schofield found Botha's bipod, shooting down the captured aircraft and destroying the pod Botha was on. One of the Penetrators picked up Kevin as they both waited for all of the air from Looking Glass to rise to the surface to ensure it's occupants' drowning, then returned to Area 7.
When Caesar realised Echo unit had betrayed him and taken Kevin, he and Kurt Logan's Alpha unit used the two Penetrators to travel to Area 8. They used the choppers to hinder the traitorous unit's attempt to use the 747 to launch their stolen X-38, destroying a Humvee with five Echo men inside, but ultimately could not prevent the plane from taking off. They took their frustration upon a Marine-operated cockroach, causing it to crash.
Having decided to return to Area 7, Caesar and Logan disembarked their Penetrators upon arrival, only to notice the X-38 landing. The Penetrator with the three remaining Alpha men hovered over the prototype shuttle, menacing it as Schofield offered to send out Kevin and the President. Once Schofield complied, however, the Penetrator fired a missile at the X-38. The Penetrator's crew were shocked as Schofield ejected and fired a shoulder-mounted rocket at them, destroying the chopper and the men inside.
Attributes[]
The AH-77 are medium sized attack choppers, possessing both the hovering capabilities of a chopper and a fighter jet's straight-line speed. They have radar absorbing black paint, and are capable of seating up to three occupants.
The AH-77's at Area 7 are equipped with Sidewinder missiles, torpedoes and gattling guns.
